MedMen is honored to call Culver City home as it continues growing in this thriving community. In 2015, we established our headquarters here and recently opened a second local office. Our headquarters in Culver City is the engine that powers the company, which employs nearly 1,000 employees across multiple facilities in three states (and growing).
MedMen is one of the largest and most well-respected cannabis companies in the nation, owning and operating licensed cannabis facilities in cultivation, manufacturing and retail. We work closely with state and local regulators to provide secure and legal access to cannabis. We operate under the strictest compliance standards and protocols in the industry.
MedMen is redefining the cannabis experience – prioritizing safe, tested products sold to customers by trained employees who provide an educational experience in beautiful stores that resemble high-end retailers in other sectors. MedMen retail locations introduce an innovative concept to mainstream cannabis. MedMen operates retail stores on some of the most iconic streets in America – from Abbot Kinney in Venice to Fifth Avenue in New York City.
MedMen recognizes that each community we serve is unique, and that our presence in, and interaction with, each community should be reflective of local values. That’s why we are committed to partnering with local non-profits and community-based organizations throughout Culver City to support the community we call home.
In 2016 Culver City voters overwhelmingly supported Proposition 64 (the ballot measure to legalize adult use cannabis) with a 69% yes vote. This is 12% higher than the statewide yes vote (57%), demonstrating the Culver City community’s support for safe, highly regulated cannabis for adults 21 and over. Proposition 64 allowed for local control, meaning each jurisdiction is able to develop its own rules and regulations for local commercial cannabis activities. The City of Culver City has spent significant time developing a thoughtful process for licensing local commercial cannabis activities, which can be found at the City’s website here. The City of Culver City has opted to license a small number of retail (3), delivery (5), manufacturing (7), distribution (7), indoor cultivation (1) and testing laboratory (4) businesses.
MedMen has applied for manufacturing and distribution licenses in the City and has been preliminary approved to move into Phase II of the application process. MedMen is also applying for one of the City's three storefront retail licenses at 10200 Culver Blvd. The retail application process is rigorous and merit-based, ensuring only the most compliant and community-oriented operators will be permitted. These three retail licenses will be required to be at least 1,000 feet from one another and only in areas specifically approved by the City for cannabis activities, so there will not be a concentration of cannabis businesses in one neighborhood.
MedMen will soon host an Open House at our headquarters to explain our vision, provide renderings of the planned store, present our community benefits plan for comments and suggestions, and answer questions from community members about our company, our operations and what comes next should MedMen be one of the three entities selected for a retail license by the City of Culver City. We will be transparent and communicative from the start.
