The dog days of summer are here, and that means it’s time for a cookout. For the cannabis-friendly, it’s the perfect opportunity to enhance your average soirée with some good ol’ weed. Whether you’re the “friend with the pool” or heading to a backyard BBQ that’ll have an amazing sunset view, you’re going to need ideas for grub. Sure, you can order pizza or coerce pals into a potluck, but why not make things more interesting with some weed-infused treats from your kitchen? Below are three popular summertime parties and the ideal cannabis-infused recipes to whip up for each occasion.
POOL PARTY So, you’re throwing a pool party or going to a friend’s house where having a chlorinated cool-off is, thankfully, an option. Make a splash with a tasty dip, like infused hummus with an Italian twist, like pesto. (Because who doesn't love pesto?)
INFUSED PESTO HUMMUS
2 cans of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 cup of grated Parmesan-Reggiano cheese
⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoon Canna-oil
1 teaspoon sea salt to taste
¼ teaspoon crushed black pepper
3 minced garlic cloves
Mix all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth.
Garnish with more parmesan and fresh basic leaves.
Serve with crackers, sliced pita bread, or fresh veggies.
If you’re camping out for a weekend, definitely include a beach bonfire on the itinerary. And though it may be blazing hot during the day, being oceanside at night can be chilly, especially on the west coast. The perfect antidote? Whipping up some CBD hot chocolate to help you and your friends stay warm and relaxed.
CBD HOT CHOCOLATE Makes 4 servings
2 cups milk of your choosing
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
4 oz chopped semi-sweet or dark chocolate
CBD oil, like Chemistry’ AC/DC 19:1 Tincture
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
Whipped cream for topping
Directions Melt chocolate over low heat. In another medium saucepan, combine all milks and heat over medium flame until bubbles start to form and before it begins to boil.
Once it reaches proper temperature, pour in chocolate.
Stir well and remove from heat.
Add in 8 full droppers of CBD oil and stir.
Transfer to large stainless steel thermos.
Once the sun goes down, serve in cups and top with whipped cream.
So the cookout is winding down; there’s only a few folks left hanging around, and everyone’s relaxing after a festive evening. Independence Day has come and gone, so you need another reason to look up at the night sky. Watching the stars on a cloudless summer night is the perfect meditative experience, one that’s obviously elevated with a nice, happy high. You can always roll a joint or two and share with friends, but nighttime is also the perfect occasion to bust out an elevated treat, like these Nutella cookies.
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup Canna-Butter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs at room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda, cocoa powder, and cornstarch, and salt in a medium bowl.
Mix regular butter, both types of sugar, and Nutella in mixer until well combined. Melt canna-butter, then add to mixture. Next, add the egg and vanilla, whisking in.
Fold in dry mixture with wet. Add white chocolate chips. Cover and refrigerate mixture for 1 hour until firm. Remove and roll into balls.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Place balls onto lined cookie sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Let cookies cool and enjoy.
