Strain Spotlight: OG Kush

Strain Spotlight: OG Kush

BY MARIE LODI

When it comes to an utterly classic strain, OG Kush is nothing short of a legend—and quite literally. Its origins have been debated for years, with theories ranging from it being a descendant of strains like Hindu Kush, Chemdawg, or Lemon Thai. While its backstory may be up for debate, most everyone agrees that the strain richly deserves its ongoing popularity.

The Effects of OG Kush

A hybrid strain, OG Kush is known for having lush, yellow-green buds covered in glistening, resin-rich trichs. It has also spawned various marijuana strains which also include “OG” in their monikers, such as Tahoe OG, SFV OG, and Fire OG.

This strain is known for its effect on focus. If you’re in need of a flower that will help you concentrate while chilling, this hybrid is a great option to pick up. However, contradictory as it might sound, OG Kush is also famous for being a relaxing, euphoric strain—in other words, it might make you sleepy. As for the aroma? OG Kush has an earthy, piney scent, pointing to pinene as one of its many terpenes. Other terpenes found in the strain are the relaxing terpineol, the uplifting limonene, and the anti-inflammatory yet sedative myrcene. If you’re in need of a relaxing strain that will put you in a good mood, OG Kush can’t be beaten.
