Give the holiday traditions you know and love a cannabis-friendly reboot. Imagine all the delicious, festive feats of creativity that are possible when weed gets combined with that Yuletide spirit—like a cannabis gingerbread house! Maybe gingerbread houses are a nostalgic highlight of childhood, or perhaps you’ve never made (or consumed) a tasty, edible abode. Either way, making a cannabis gingerbread house is certainly something to get excited about. So, what might this entail? Essentially, the gingerbread house’s construction is the same as the classic, cannabis-free version, but regular candies get swapped out for something a little more...fun. In other words, bring on the weed gummies!
Cookies like Korova Mini Cookies
Peppermint and candy canes
Weed chocolate like Kiva Milk Chocolate
No need to make gingerbread from scratch, just grab a box of graham crackers, or look for Toll House’s pre-rolled gingerbread cookie dough sheets for the traditional, gingery effect, sans all the baking effort.
Next, you’ll need a glossy white royal icing; use this easy recipe from Alton Brown. If you want to truly elevate this edible crib to the next level, add a cannabis-infused tincture to your royal icing recipe. But since tinctures are oil-based, use sparingly, to avoid the possibility of the icing being too slippery and, thus, not being hard enough to hold the house together. Concerned about the structural integrity? Skip the tincture add-in; you’ll certainly get your cannabis kick in the decoration stage.
Make sure you have a base for your house: either a sturdy piece of cardboard, a sheet pan, or a sheet of gingerbread crackers.
Fill a pastry bag with the prepared icing, and start piping the edges of the crackers in order to begin constructing the house. Start by gluing together the walls, then affix the roof. Allow the icing to set for 15-20 minutes.
Once the icing is set, start decorating the house as desired. A couple design pointers to consider: glue cannabis gummies on the roof, use squares of weed-packed chocolate as windows and doors, and even lace some peppermints and candy canes with a CBD tincture for added effect.
Once you're done, admire your work, merrily stoned. Happy High-lidays!
